cough cough cough!!!
My dude (1 year in a week- sob!) had a cold about 2 1/2 weeks ago, that lasted about 2 days. Since then he has had a cough that has gotten worse each day. It's a really wet, mucousy cough and it's much worse at night. He doesn't have a fever and is acting normal.
Since the cough has been around and getting worse for so long, I actually took him to the doctor today - The doctor basically said "his lungs sound fine, his ears look fine, but oh, here's an antibiotic for you..." Uh... I'm not opposed to antibiotics when they are needed, but it seemed like she was just tossing it at me because she didn't find anything wrong.
What do you think? I wasn't going to fill it just yet... Is that an awful plan? I don't know what an antiobotic would do at this point, especially since she couldn't find anything wrong to begin with... But if I don't drug him, is there anything else I can do for him? Poor dude is all *coughcoughcough*

Maybe a vaporizer in his room at night?
Every time my ds catches a cold, he ends up with a nasty cough that lasts for months, even after his cold is gone. I got some stuff called Umcka from the Health food store, and it's awesome. Kicks it fast. Maybe give it a try.

It sounds like bronchitis. Maybe that's why he gave the antibiotic even though his lungs are clear. He was saying that it's not pneumonia but it's still an infection. I would hold onto the prescription just in case it gets worse or doesn't go away soon.
My dd just got over bronchitis and I've had it several times, too. It's really hard to get rid of on your own. With dd and I having asthma we don't mess around with it but perhaps a healthier person might be okay waiting it out.
