TMI, Mama's I need some help/advice fast...:cry
Olay I am going to admit it. I have bad external hemmorrhoids. I am going to have to have them surgically removed, if you have had them you would know what a "skin tag" is. They never fully go away. They dont put you under, thay may numb you, and I am scared mama;s. They have been this way since my son almost 5 years ago. I cannot bring myself to go to the Dr., but I am scared, they hurt, I have no money for meds. I can go to the E.R. I am scared, I am so scared, mama;s what should I do? Have you ever had this happen? I am so scared. The article I just read says if not taken care of they cn cause you to get ulcers or gang green....Tell me it will be okay...I am so so so ambarassed. I am afraid to go, I am ambarassed and scared. What should I do.....PLEASE . I need advice fast, they hurt.

PLEASE GO get them taken care of!!
No medical procedure is fun - regardless of where on your body it's done. But I would hate to see you start a thread in a few months saying "Mamas, What have I done... I let my medical problem get worse because I was ashamed!"
Can you say exactly what you're afraid of? The pain? The embarrassment? Being told you should have come in sooner? The actual procedure? Or are you more afraid that it will get worse if you don't do anything?
:hug
I've never had them but I've heard they can be excrutiating. Have you ever had any other surgery before?

I'm sorry that you are in pain and so scared. I don't really have a lot of info on hemmorriods but I would think making an app. with your doctor would be called for , not sure about going to the ER for them. I know there are herbs that can be soothing for such things but I don't know what they are. How about cold witch hazel pads until you get to the doctor. I'm sorry I don't have better advice for. Good luck!!

I am scared of all of the above. I have had 10 inches of my intestine removed, due to Crohns disease, but iI was put under, i am so scared of everything...
Answers:
Ok, first, did a doctor say you had to have surgery, or did you do an interent search?
I got 'em. Bad. Doc said they COULD operate. I said, no thanks. It's been 15 years, and I'm fine.
Now, don't be embarrassed. Docs see tehse allllll the time. ANd I went to the ER once. I'd skip it, there's really nothing they can do.
But lots YOU can.
First, buy a cheapo sitz bath at the drugstore. Fill it with water as hot as you canstand, soak for 10 minutes. Quickly, dump out hot and fill with icy cold, soak for 2 minutes, repeat. (And until you get the sitz, soak in tub, pour icy water over from large pitcher. )
Ahhhh.
Now, Blood flow is the problem. So, reversing it helps. Get on your hands and knees. Put your chest on the floor, butt up, knees a foot or two apart. Stay there for 5 minutes. Get out the Vaseline. use pressure and vaseline to slowly and still with your butt up, push everythig back in. Gently! Do this all three or four times a day. (or more)
Everytime you use the bathroom, place a piece of tissue, or better, a cotton ball, in witch hazel and put it THERE for a minute or two. (Drips will sting certain other areas!)
Try this, let me know if you feel better. PM me if you want. Believe me, I understand!

You're afraid of the pain - you've been through childbirth. You're strong and you know that pain won't kill you.
Find courage to get this done. The embarrassment and the pain won't hurt you, but ignoring it could.
Once they are gone, the pain and the embarrassment and the fear will all go away too.
Think of the procedure as a fear-ectomy. You don't want the hemorrhoids - or these feelings - slowing you down anymore, and you need to get them both "removed".

Ohh you mama's are such a great help, I was afraid to post but you have all made me feel so much better, My best friens even just laughed at me. You guys are great.
Heres some response..
Red: I did an internet search, but mine looked just like the picture and so I figured that I would have to have the surgery, I went to a Dr. a long time ago I thought I had some weird STD, :lol She said it was "just a hemorrhoid"...So I know that is what they are, or what IT is. I cant make it go away...
Okay, so no E.R. I didn't think they would do anything anyways.Thank you for that. Oh yeah and what are sitz...?
So I dont have the cotton balls and witch hazel, but I do have the Tucks Pads, same thing right?
Well I am off to do the routine, tell ya how I feel in bout 20 minutes, maybe 30 :throb Thanbk you again :throb
Answers:
I like plain witch hazel better than Tucks.
Also, diet! WHat are you eating? Are you having loose movements? You don't have to answer. :lol If you are, or if you're straining, try wayyyyy more fiber. Brown rice, lots of dried beans (not canned), only whole grains, for a few weeks. At first, you'll hate me. :p Then it will get better!
Also, NO ONIONS! Go bland, avoid acid or extremely alkaline foods. Avoid anything that gives you the runs.
This is all just temporary. As they get better, you can do your own thing again, but you'll need to watch your diet.
Ok, now for the really TMI part. Using one finger and some lubricant, as the swellling goes down, gently push that baby back where it came from. If it's an internal peeping out, it needs to go back. I know, I know. (Oh BOY, how I know. Twins will do that to you :irked: ) This is easiest to do after teh knee/chest/butt in the air thing.
Sitz bath? It's a basin with a sort-of douch bag set up attached. You fill it with HOT water, sit in the basin (it fits in your toilet), and the water comes through the tube and gently flows past your aching parts. It is way more soothing than you'd believe. A bidet would be marvy! :lol
Feeling better?

Okay, well I did the warm bath, saoked for days, I did the chest/knees thing, then when I got done with that I laid down and watched a movie with a tucks pad resting and TODAY i feel like I can walk again and it isnt excrutiating. It is still there, but oh how much relief do I feel, thank you so much mama, I am feeling so much better, and I will continue to listen to you...You are so smart, thank you again. :love

I had really bad hemmrhoids too. For a year it felt worse to poop than it did to give birth. They have finally gone away. I used preperation-h suppositories (the suppositories worked best for me, the lotion stuff didn't) every time I pooped and at night, so at least 2 times a day. I also put a whole lot of cocoa butter on there once they had been poked back in with the suppository. Warm the suppository with your hand first a little, that way it's melted a bit so it's lubricated. And drink water... all the time... lots of it... I had about a gallon a day. Trust me, that is what makes the biggest difference.
Mine used to gush blood everytime I pooped and I'd have to wear a small pad afterward for a little while. I really contemplated getting them removed, but there is a pretty good chance that they'll return after that. My dad had the surgery and they didn't come back, but he said the two weeks after the surgery were so bad that he'd just deal with it if they ever came back. (men can be wimps when it comes to pain though). Now, I'm still very careful about butt care. If I feel any discomfort or have any bleeding at all, I start my butt care regimine again till I feel totally fine. I'd much rather prevent them then have them come back again.
(side note- I'm not afraid of giving birth again, but I'm terrified I'll get hemmrhoids again next time. They suck.)

Foxxy, reversing the blood flow, butt up, works for both kinds. Pushing it back where it belongs works in both cases too, only true external ones don't need to go IN, just sorta flat.
Huh, I was told I had Crohn's once, too. What kind of pans are you cooking in? Could they be aluminum? If so, stop using them immediately, and we'll talk. :love
I don't know diddly about Crohn's, sounds awful. It seems wrong not to eat good food! HOwever, it's important not to get constipated. Take something if that's what you need to do, but keep regular.
Don't sit! Lie down, or stand up for a few days. When you do sit, be conscious of pressure points. Use good posture. (I just lay down) :)
Keep ding teh knee chest thing. Give it a few weeks, get them as healed as possible. IF it ain't working, you WILL need to see a doc.
And MotherWhimsey, I always figured surgery THERE would be worse than anything I had on my own! Im hoping to avoid it all0together. Do try the knee chest thing and you can probably manage pregnancy. :lol :love
Oh, MY Goddess. I have just realized, with this as my knowledge base...I could possibly be crowned something horrible...Queen of the Hemmoriods? Why don't I ge t to know lots about something FUN and INTERESTING!

I also am usin a tucks pad instead of t.p. to whipe when I poo. So much more soothing.

Okay, I agree this is embarrassing to talk about. Who really wants to talk about the bunch of grapes that you get after pushing out an oversized baby?
Yes, like many others, I had them. And had two that 15 years later, caused a lot of problems. I'm not sure what you mean by skin tags, but what happened with two of mine was that they burst, but became empty balloon things which filled up with bacteria. That bacteria ate right back up into my butt, and caused excrutiating pain.
I went to the doc not knowing that, and he demonstrated what the problem was, and said there was only one solution which was surgery. I wasn't happy but he said he knew a good surgeon :blah :blah... anyway, he rang, and there was a three year waiting list. I wasn't going to sit on that for three years, so using Swedish Bitters concentrate in sitz baths, every time I went back end, I did that, and then used Ungvita, which is a nappy rash cream based on fish oil, on it.
The pain went immediately.
BUT...
After a month it came back even worse, so back I went to the doc. He was amazed. What had happened was that the "holes" had filled right back in BUT... BECAUSE when you go to the toilet back end, it stretches the sphincter muscle, so the skin wasn't healing over. So the tissue behind it, came out in what is called exuberant granulomas, which are like little protuding fingers and can cause excruciating pain.
He got frozen nitrogen, and frizzled them off twice, the skin healed over and the problem was solved.
He then rang and took me off the waiting list.
I still have two haemorrhoids that I can see could cause problems. I try to keep everything as soft as possible, but if I sense that there could be problems, I try to support the sphincter muscle in the same way as a midwife supports the perineum to prevent tearing. It doesn't always work, and I've just gotten over a tear. But once you know what you are dealing with and how to deal with it, the idea of surgery might not appeal.
In my case the doctor was very interested in what I did to resolve the issue
The other thing he did tell me, which increased my reserve about surgery, is that surgery greatly increases your chances of becoming fecally incontinent. By 50% he told me. Maybe those figures only apply to our country, but I do feel that doctors always downplay the negative sides to the surgery.
Whatever you do do, be well informed about it.
