United Healthcare
Anyone dealt with them when trying to get a UVB unit? Don't know where to start here. I have been doing UVB treatments for a while and they do work but they are costing me $300 a month. I'm po'.

Answers:
Freddy, I too have UH. I have to PPO-out of network. If what you are saying is that you too have the PPO, the 300 you are paying a month should have stopped once you reached a 2,000 out of pocket max.
United Healthcare has a "screening" company made of nurses who make decisions on allowable treatment. Have you contacted Customer relations?
I you do not have the PPO coverage you can request (GAP) coverage from UH-which means that they will seek a physician or provider in your area to participate (only in your case) so that you can receive the treatment you need. Here's a link to their website, and you can register, and login to see what your options are: www.myuhc.com
Hope this helps-I have many bouts with them, but managed to work through things.

Not sure about that, but I had them as an insurer for along time and they were really lenient on what they approved. Good company!

I have United Healthcare and use a network provider. I do not pay anything for phototherapy, not even a copay. I have been getting phototherapy treatments 3X week since last July and it hasn't costed me a nickel. I don't know where you are located, but you need to go to a network dermatologist who will presctibe narrow band radiation and have it done at a network hospital. That might be what you are missing. I wish you well.
