Raptiva Co-pay...Having to find something else
I got laid off from my job, found another job...figured everything would work out. Well...when I changed insurance companies..that is when the fireworks started. My co pay went from twenty dollars a month to over twenty five hundred dollars a month. Which means I am no longer taking Raptiva for the time being. I miss it so much ! Although I am battling with my current insurance company, I'm starting to lose faith. Anyone have any ideas ?

You should look into getting COBRA insurance from your previous employer's insurance company. It's rather expensive, usually about $400/month for an individual, but you should be able to have it for at least 6 months with the same benefits you had during your employment. It's a lot less than the $2500 copay your new insurance agency wants.
It's not long term, but it may give you some time to figure out a backup plan until you can get lower payments.

Thanks for the reply ! I'm actually going through one of the labs that makes it. Apparently they offer grants to patients whose insurance companies dont cover the majority. As soon as I hear I'll post so that maybe everyone can get a better deal ;) Thanks again !

GaKatt,
Pipegirl had similar issues and her derm was able to get her meds for her at a reduced price. Have you contacted the manufacturer? Also, your derm might be of some help. Good luck!

Hey:
I am also taking Raptiva. My insurance company tried to cut my benefits in July and I had to find some options. One is a plan called Clearly You. They pay up to 450.00 a month toward your co-pay. In your case, the cobra insurance would be just as cheap. The Clearly you option was offered thru my Derm.
