Enbrel and health insurance
Hi, Just started my enbrel today. It is a very expensive drug and I was wondering if there is any health insurance plan that can cut it way down. I have Blue cross but I still have to pay over $400 a month. Does this sound high or around the normal cost with health insurance?
Thanks.

Sara,
This is an issue that will vary from insurance company to insurance company. I would not per se say that want you are paying is out of the norm. What are the particulars of your plan? If in sthis instance you are supposed to be paying about 25% of the cost then that sounds in the ball park.
If the cost gets to be exhorbitant, Enliven Services has an insurance advocacy dept which may be able to lend a hand.
(oh I also responded to you, on the PA in your 20's thread)
Welcome to the family and the Enbrel club!

Hi Sara!
I don't think that we've met, so let me take this opportunity to welcome you to the Board! Nice to meet you. During a previous discussion of high Enbrel co-payments, another poster suggested an assitance program called Patient Services Incorporated (PSI). According to their website PSI is a non-profit organization primarily dedicated to providing health insurance premium assistance, pharmacy co-payment assistance and co-payment waiver assistance for persons with specific expensive chronic illnesses . Psoriasis is one of the illnesses that they say that they provide assistance for. They also say that they people with "eligible illness" are eligible to apply, regardless of income. I know nothing about them, but it can't hurt to check them out. Here's a link to their website: http://www.uneedpsi.org/eligibility.cfm and here's a link to the previous post about them: .
Hope this helps.
