Children with food allergies
:down
I was wondering if there are any moms who have children with food allergies? My daughter, son and I can not have cows milk. And it has been determined that we can not have wheat/wheat-gluten and I add no sugar. What a change in eating habits and food shopping change. The kids now bring their own lunch and eat breakfast at home. We pack fruit, veggies and acceptable other foods for snack while we are out. A complete adjustment and lifestyle change!
Are any of you going thru some of the similar experiences? How old are your children? Mine are 8 and 5. I feel fortunate to live in Asheville with health food stores that caring a good amount of food for restricted diets. And I am not one for cooking but that has changed with this. My dh is not fully convenced about all this and will let the kids have what ever if I do not keep an eye.
Thank you for listening and love to hear from you

Hi Mother Bear
My dd has severe food allergies. She is anaphylaxis to milk, goat's milk, wheat, rye, barley, peanuts and most fish. Plus she has other allergies. She is 10, and we have known this since she was 3 weeks old.
It looks like you have lots of company here. Welcome:wink
To answer one of your questions for school lunch. She Never eats a school lunch. I usually send Bore's Head meats (ham), (Some lunch meats contain dairy) frest fruit and Lay's brand chips. The less ingredients the better. I get regular Lays classic chips, Fritos corn chips and Tostitos white corn chips. Talk to your school nurse, when she was in kindergarden we made a poster with her picture and DO NOT FEED ME, with all her allergies on it. This year we finally have a peanut free zone (table) for lunch. I always send a place mat in her lunch box so she will have a clean place to eat. :lol
