Do you delay "safe" foods if *you* are allergic to them?
What I mean is, most babies can safely have apples, pears, etc. But I have been delaying them (and many other fruits) for my dd because I am allergic to them.
Thoughts?

Answers:
I worried about the same thing since I'm sensitive to raw apples and pears and carrots. I just make sure that I cook up DS's apples/pears/carrots first and he seems to tolerate them fine.

i was allergic to wheat and dairy, and 9.5 month old ds is still wheat-free and will be for another few months, we just intro'd dairt (cheese) and thats been okay. i think it is a good idea.

I cannot eat apples or cherries raw, so we are delaying them until two years.
If you have allergies (food or environmental), it's best to delay all the biggies (wheat, dairy, strawberries, soy, etc.) until at least two years, if not longer. I'm sure someone else here can give you better documented information than I can, but I HTH for now. :)

I didn't delay them though I am allergic. My reasoning? My dad and I share the same allergy, and each of us grew into it. We both acquired our allergies around puberty time. I figured that even if my kids were to be allergic, they wouldn't be as babies.
