menu ideas for allergic 11 month old
hi all-
my son is sensitive to all the biggies- wheat, cow's milk, eggs, soy, corn, oats, barley, and a few other random foods. as he's eating more solids, i'm finding it harder to vary his foods and provide him with nutritous meals. (he still nurses all the time so i'm not too worried about adequate nutrition but figure at some point i'll need to be) i guess what i'm wondering is what types of "meals" other moms give their allregic babies around the same age? any help would be much appreciated. i don't know if he cares, but i'm getting sick of sweet potatoes and peas!
thans.

I feed my 11 month old ds whatever I'm eating. Since I'm not eating anything he's allergic to, it's all good. He's allergic to eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, peas, and shellfish. I am allergic to milk and eggs, so milk is out as well. He loves meat and beans, potatoes, millet, rice, veggies, etc. Like I said, he can and does eat anything I eat and loves to eat food.
When I'm eating something that's not baby friendly for him to eat (soup, tortilla chips that are hard to chew, something like that) I give him cereal. He really like rice chex type cereal. His favorite veggies are broccoli and zucchini.

I can really identify with you as dd2 is almost 16 months and allergic to the same things as your little one. Having an older sister who can eat some of those foods make things even more difficult.
We eat a lot of avocados, grapes (you can cut an peel), apple, apple sauce, meat, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans. I was giving dd puffed rice even though it has almost no nutritive value, just so she'd have something cereal-like to eat with her sister. Unfortunately, she reacts every time. I'm assuming that it's puffed in the same plant as the corn or some other item that she's allergic to.
I also ordered a few rice cereals on line - perky's makes a nut and flax cereal. There's also a rice "o" cereal. DD became horribly constipated so I don't give her that anymore. We also nurse and Im hoping that will buy us more time. More than a nutritional concern, I worry about her socially. It's tough when you can't eat what everyone else can.
Good luck!
