Suspect allergies.
Hi,
My dd is almost 15 months old. About a month ago she had Rubella. Ever since she has been congested and wheezy. Many people have commented to me that they thought she has asthma. I have been waiting for this to clear up on its own, but it doesn't seem to be.
So about 2 weeks ago we went on a short vacation. DD cleared up while we were gone. When we came home her nose was running by bedtime and she was congested by the next morning. This leads me to believe that it is something in my house. This is a brand new house which is only four months old. She was fine here from December to Feb., (with occational stuffiness/wheezing) so I am at a loss of what it could be. We do have a cat, but we had a cat at our old house and she didn't seem to have problems.
(This is not the same cat as the old one died while staying at my mothers while we were moving.)
When DD was younger we decided she was allergic to dairy. She would get wheezy whenver I had eaten ice cream the night before. I have cut dairy out of my diet for the most part. I do however still eat cheese and she hasn't had a problem with this unless it was a lot. (say mac and cheese or pizza.)
So I guess my question is, do you think I should take her in to have allergy tests? We recently moved 700 miles combined with the fact that we don't vax so I don't have a ped. I did however take her to a naturpath who diagnosed her with the Rubella a month ago and I can take her there.
Oh yea. I did recently add coconut oil to our diet. Maybe about 6 weeks ago. Would it take a few weeks for symtoms to show up if she was allergic to that?
Thanks for your help.

It could be the new house fumes? More later

Food for thought - some people are differently allergic to different cats. Our circle of friends is about half allergic to cats. Five guys who can't take being in our house with our two cats for more than an hour, and I keep a pretty clean house. We all go over to one of the other houses where they also have a cat, and nobody has any problems. The other cat, Luna, is one of those smooshy-face short-hairs and apparently her dander isn't as allergenic.
But your problem could also be new-house smells or any number of other things, including leftover stuffies from the illness she had.
Best of luck!
