Elimination diet question
Okay, in principal I understand the Elimination diet, but in practice...not so much. How do you do an elimination diet? And if you introduce a food that it turns out you react badly to, then do you immediately discontinue it, and then go on to the next food? Please help? Thank you.

I moved this to Allergies because I think you'll get more advice here.

Answers:
You go on the diet until things improve, then you try a new food every 3 days, waiting to make sure you don't see a new reaction. Then you try the next new food.
If the first food didn't cause a reaction, it depends whether you automatically start eating it all the time or not. Our naturopath perferred us to wait until we were done testing. Then started a Rotation diet where you eat highly allergenic food like wheat or dairy every only 3 days, not every day.
Let me know if you have any ?s

I elim. the big 8 (eggs, dairy, wheat, peanuts, treenuts, whitefish, shellfish and soy) until things got better. Then I added them back in one at a time to see if there was a reaction. I had to test wheat a couple of times because I was in a bit of shock/denial. At one year I had babe tested for allergies. Wheat came back negative but soy positive. I had somewhat suspected the soy as she got red around the mouth when I fed her something with tofu in it.
Some things, like dairy can take a long time to exit your system. It is a hard road but oh so worth it to see the improvement.
