"You're too skinny"
"You're too skinny. You should eat something."
(FWIW, I'm 5'5" and 115 lbs.) This is what I hear from my mom, from aquaintances, relatives, etc. Mainly my mom though. I'm sick to death of it. I eat and eat and eat and simply don't look like it. I eat junk food. I eat healthy food. I eat a lot. Why do people feel it's o.k. to say this to me? I don't tell people they are overweight and should stop eating, so what makes this statement o.k? I have high metabolism and I'm breastfeeding so I burn a good amount of calories every day. I'm also playing with my kids constantly and I work out sometimes to keep fit. I would love to look about 10 lbs. heavier but I simply don't.
Does anyone else have this issue?
And while I'm at it, does anyone have any tips for gaining weight healthfully?
Thanks for listening. I'm going to go eat something.

Answers:
I do.
Up until my last child 6 years ago, i never weighed more than 120, and i am 5"10. Thin I know. But people would think nothing of stopping me in the store, the mall, and tell me how skinny i was, how i needed to eat more, you name it. They would call me anorexic to my face. One lady asked me if i had any blood flowing.
Imagine if i went up to an overweight man or woman and said:My GOD YOU ARE SO FAT, GO ON A DIET? Or criticized them for whats in their grocery cart.
I am now 137, but still quite thin looking and people still say stuff to me at work.
Even my midwife encouraged me to gain. Then i had a 9 pound baby when i weighed in at 134pounds at delivery, and she said she would never mention my weight again.

I am 5'8" and 110 when not preggo. I hear from people who dont know me to well who skinny I am and that I ought to gain weight. :LOL Well, once somebody gets to know me they find out that I am very healthy and very strong/active they shut up. I eat according to how much I work, the harder I work the more I eat and watch out because if I am working very hard I can out eat a man :shy
I once gained weight because I was on birth control and I felt awful so I do know I weight what I ought to. A Dr once measured my body fat content and found it was like 6%.
I personally wouldnt want to gain weight.
I should say that while preggo I have no problems gaining weight, I just at food and put on the pounds. :LOL With my second I weight 170 before her birth. This time i am much more active :thumb (country living), have about 3 week to go and weigh 156 so I am doing better.
All of this to say I have a pretty good idea of what you are going through and if I where you I wouldnt try to gain weight.
