What do I feed my kid?
My dd is 14 mos old and is allergic to eggs and dairy. We rarely eat meat, maybe once a week or less. I'm at a loss as to what to feed her (and myself, since I"m avoiding the allergens as well). I"m struggling to make sure she has a balanced diet, enough calories and protien, and doesn't have too much soy (drinks soy milk every day but it worries me).
Please, share ideas with me. What food? recipies? snacks? I'm getting desperate.
typical day's food:
Breakfast - Oatmeal with raisins
snack - cheerios and soy yogurt
lunch - leftovers (veggie chii, vegan veggie burger, pasta and hummos)
snack - hummos and pita
dinner (vegan shepards pie, pasta with sauce and veggies, maybe chicken)
snack - waffle and apple butter

There's a great book called "Food Allergy Survival Guide" - it is mostly vegetarian and has great recipes and info in it. I tried out a lot of the baked stuff during the holidays and they were great.
Anyway - I'll move this to the allergies subforum where I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas.

Oh - here's a few things I thought of - split pea soup, minestrone soup, lentil soup, veggie burgers with a ketchup/eggless mayo mixture to dip (my kids love that).

Hey, empty out your PM box! I wrote you a message about Passover. :) I saved it and I'll resend it when your box is empty.
If you are finding that the family is eating vegan a lot to accomodate your little sweetie, How It All Vegan is a good book.

Ds son had those allergies and a few more as well. We lived off fruits (he refuses to eat vegetables). We also made "milkshakes" that included veggies, such as asparagus. We used rice milk (soy allegy) but you don't really need milk after a year especially if you are bf. Peanut butter is good for you although I'd wait for baby, as well as other nut butters that are less allergenic. We added Omega 3 Oils and flaxseed into his shakes and yogurt. Sweet Potato Baked fries are yummy and easy for baby to eat. And a good vitamin. Check the health food store. There is at least one that is "hypoallergenic". We also like "enjoy life" products. They have breads, cookies, and bagels that are free of allergens.
That's all I can think of right now. HTH
