Tick Bites/Lyme Disease
My dd had a tick bite... it was mid-summer I believe. We were at a playhouse when I discovered the tick so we just drove across the highway to our peds office to have it removed because the tick was pretty embedded. It was a deer tick, not a dog tick. The redness eventually went away, but came back shortly thereafter. It is still red and dd keeps itching it. I haven't noticed any flu-like symptoms and dd has only thrown up once or twice in her lifetime. I figure as long as it has been I should have it looked at.
She does suffer frequent bouts of diarrhea, which I have been attributing to a food sensitivity of some kind but now I'm not sure.
I would prefer to take her to the ped and have him look at it, but I found out that the peds office is administering FluMist which is a LIVE virus that can be coughed or sneezed onto unsuspecting persons so I'm not keen on going to the ped office (we will be postponing all well visits until spring).
The info I'm finding online isn't very helpful really... anyone have any good info or experience to impart?
TIA!

My dd had a tick bite i never seen the tick but seen the classic bullseye rash. I took her for several opinions we decided to treat her profalactally it wasnt worth the risk so i went ahead and treated her with antibiotics. I never have had her tested for the antibody but she hasnt had any effects.
My uncle got bit and got deathly ill he still has effects. I would watch her closely I know it made me really nervous. I did treat her also with homeopathy as well.

I'd go to the dr and get her checked. I was just going to post about Lyme. I found out today that I tested positive for Lyme Disease. I've had symptoms for 9 years now and it took that long to get a diagnosis...assuming it's an active Lyme infection I tested positive for. I feel it is though because everything adds up so far. Anyway, please have her tested. This is an awful thing. Lately I feel like I'm dying. I'd hate to see that happen to her. I'd do some research on the Western blot test.

I will call the peds office and see about getting her checked. Maybe my mom can watch for me out in the car or something. Our peds office is 25 minutes from our home and ds is ebf. I won't be taking him into the peds office since they are administering FluMist and also asking parents not to bring healthy kids in at this time. :(
Chevy- do you mind telling me how you treated it homeopathically? I'm not keen on antibiotics myself and need to investigate should dd be positive.

AnnMarie- I hope your treatment goes well. I'm sorry you've had it so long with no diagnosis. Some of my reading said the tests are unreliable and it's hard to diagnose in small children so I'm not sure what the ped will say.

I believe they recommend testing at 6-8 weeks after a bite. At 4 weeks about 80% that are positive will show a positive. From my reading it seems as though maybe the Western blot test is the better one. That's the one I just had. It's important to get someone that knows how to read the results too though. If your daughter has this test and they say it's positive, write down what bands she had and look them up yourself so you can be sure it's a positive.

I hope she doesn't have it. I think I'm going to have to have at least 2 of my children tested now because you can pass it during pregnancy. :( I pray that none of our children have it. :D
