Plantar's Warts
Hello,
I have mosiac plantars warts on my right foot. I went to a podiatrist, and he didn't even try anything else, but told me I was going to have to have surgery to get them out. Thing is, I have noticed that some are starting to go away on their own. I couldn't really do anything about them until now, since I am 9 months pregnant, so I had to wait until after that was done with.
Any suggestions that do not involve surgery and anesthesia while I am nursing?
TIA,
Nicole

My DH has several on one of his feet, and went to see a dermatologist about them. The derm said he could cut them out, but most likely they would grow back and DH would have a big hole in his foot for nothing. The good news is that they will go away (they are a virus) but could take somewhere between 5-20 years. I say, if they aren't too painful and you aren't having trouble walking, just leave them be.

Yep I had one in 8th grade (cut away the skin grows back) and I know have one some 20+ years later. I got the Dr. Scholl's Planter wart remover. They work great. Get the one step, a bit more expensive, but easier.

Since dealing with DD's I've heard of quite a few treatments.
1)there are prescriptions that can help. From reading the insert on DD's med, it's actually intended for genital warts, but a wart is a wart is a wart in that they are all caused by one of some 300 viruses. Plantar just means it's on the foot.
2)duct tape, leave it on all the time.
3)band-aid, leave it on all the time.
4)either of the above with salt underneath.
5)either of the above with crushed aspirin underneath
6)either of the above with slice of garlic underneath
7)Tea Tree Oil
8)what we've been doing on non-med nights is smearing fresh garlic onto the wart.
9)a homeopathic med called DDG that you get by prescription from a formulating pharmacy.
DD's doc did a freezing treatment in the office to cut the wart to about half its size at the time, then we've proceeded with the med and garlic. Starting Sunday, we're going to put a piece of duct tape on it and leave it covered.
FWIW, while her wart hasn't gotten any smaller that I can tell, it is looking more unstable, kind of loosish. When DS's last one went away with the DDG homeopathic med, it fell off, leaving a dimple/dent in his skin that went away by the next day.

Well we won't be trying the duct tape treatment after all.:)
DD's wart fell off this evening! She and DS had been rough-housing and it fell off. I gooped a bit of the medication to make sure no virus is left standing and bandaided it, but it is truly gone. She was a bit freaked out because it left a bleeding hole, but otherwise she's thrilled that it's gone.

You're supposed to leave it on for a certain amount of time and then take it off for some time as well. I would have to look up the directions.

Check out Dr. Weil's website and search "bloodroot". He mentioned this as a Native American remedy for wart removal.
Good luck!

Ugh, I have 5 that I'm trying to get rid of...I've tried ALL these...duct tape, garlic, keeping it covered for MONTHS...
I got ether freeze stuff for $20 :shock and it looks like it might do it, they're definitely healing but might need a 2nd treatment...
