I posted here a couple days ago asking if a fever dd (14 months old) had might be associated with teething. Well the fever got worse lasted from Sunday to midday Wednesday (would be on for 12 hours or so then off for a similar amount of time). Went up close to 105 one night. Then, it went away Wednesday and on Thursday a rash started. OK, I know that sounds like roseola, but the rash doesn't seem typical. It started with a sort of blotchy rash on her face and ears (but not on her trunk/limbs) that came and went and came back a few hours later. This morning she has a bumpy rash (sorta like heat rash, but all over) on the rest of her body, bur her face still has this (esp red cheeks). Any ideas? still roseola? fifth disease? both :eyesroll
In addition to fever she had a bit of diarrea for a few days before til yesterday. She was miserable, uncomfortable. seems to have had bad gas pains sometimes, was crying a lot (something she rarely does!). Oh and we went to the ped on day 2 of the fever, (of course there was no fever then :LOL ) she ruled out EI, or UTI and couldn't say much else (she didn't mention roseola either).
Any ideas? I want to know also because I have a friend staying here who has a son around the same age, so I want to warn her what to look out for.

That sounds pretty much like my son when he had roseola.

yea, probably is roseola then, I was just confused because the rash started on her face and was flat and blotchy and they say it should start on her trunk and then move to the face well, in case anyone is still interested :shy (I know its not as endlessly fascinating to most people as it is to me :laugh: ) here's a couple more of the - its a bumpy rash on her body, just blotchy on her face. So, if it is roseola, once the fever goes and the rash comes up its not contagious any more right? Sucks for my friend, hopefully her ds didn't get it, she's already taken too many days off work for him (but if he's anything like Fern all he'll want is boobie when he has fever).
