Hello,
I have a mother and grandfather with plaque psoriasis, which I inherited (one usually likes to inherit something nicer). I "came down with it" at age 14, triggered by a severe battle with strep (this is my theory, anyway). I had it in a small, but steadily growing patch on the back of my head, on the scalp, until age 16-17 or so. Then p spread to my face, where it was really different. I knew it was p, because it itched and burned just like p, but it wasn't really scaly, just looked like dry skin. Since I also have acne, I knew it wasn't dry skin! By this time, p wasn't a cute little patch on the back of my beaner, this was all the way up in my forehead-scalp area, etc. So I caved in and went to a dermo. He gave me PC-Tar and Clobetasol. Are any of you guys on that stuff? I use the PC-Tar shampoo regularly, and I actually like it, for my face I use Eurerin (whatever that stuff is, I'm too lazy to go look up the spelling) and that seems to manage it. Now I look p free, and usually feel great. It was so nice to go from worrying about it to being almost normal other than crazy meds. I still have to deal with flares, but that's not such a big deal anymore.
My question for you all is, I also suspect I have PA. I get achy, especially on cold or humid mornings. My left hip is a favorite target, as well as every joint in my fingers, and my knees. I can be walking (I'm rather athletic, or at least busy) and all of a sudden I'm limping because my hip decided to go on me. I told the dermo about this and asked if there was anything I could do. He basically said, well, if you start getting severe pain, we'll prescribe pain meds. Well, I don't want to be dependant on pain meds, I mean, how severe is severe? I asked if he could do a test or refer for a test to see if I have it and he kinda ignored me. If I do have it, don't I need to do some preventitive stuff?
Now on to the fun stuff. I'm 18, am a Christian (so hi to fellow believers that I know are on here), am crazy about horses, and I guess that's it.
