Diets and P
Hello all!
I have been doing A LOT of reading regarding my p (as I was recently diagnosed). I just read about food consumption, food allergies and p flare ups. Just wondering if anyone was / is on a particular diet when your p flares... I know it's not completely accurate... and I realize that many derms don't associate p flares and foods...although I am just curious...
Have a great day!

I try to stay away from tomatoes and chocolate most of the time.
I usually just eat turkey, chicken, wheat bread and vegetables like (carrots/celery).
Other then that I sometimes cheat and have a fast food place maybe once a week or so, but I try to control that.

Hi Christine,
Due to an ongoing medical condition (PCOS) I have had to temporarily cut out all carbs and nearly 4 weeks ago I started doing Atkins, and I cannot believe the difference in my p.... A lot of it has disappeared and the rest is fading. Most of the smaller spots are completely gone and I have pure white skin there, the larger ones are taking a little longer.
Hope this helps, if I can be of any more help just pm. :)

I tried a gluten free diet, but that didn't help my p. I've also cut out nightshades, but haven't seen a difference. Eliminating alcohol also made no difference. To be gluten free and alcohol free was boring!
I also had food allergy testing and it all came up negative.
I've had p for 20+ years (scalp only) and I don't think food has affected it one way or the other.

Your skin is best when its hydrated. So now that I have the dreaded P I've been chugging back tons o water!:D
Though, right now I am also trying to gain weight, heh, I'm a tad on the skinny side, so I'm eating as many fatty-foods as I can! Lots of CREAM and PASTA :p :) Not sure if any of this will be affecting my P

In the pass I have tried many diets none of which have helped my psoriasis. I have cut out niteshade, sugars etc, you name the diet I have been on it. I have just started again this mornig starting down that long, long road. I am not doing this for my psoriasis but to keep my sugar under control. I will let you know if it effect my P but it hasn't in the passed.

I'm on my version of Pagano's diet....(no colonics) watch what I eat, plus had a blood test for food allergies, which took care of itching! I have been giving a rundown of my regimen in the ALTERNATE TREATMENTS thread....started this specific program around Oct 11 or so ...I definitely feel that food has an important effect on the psoriasis I have...and that includes various teas or herbs......I'm also big on EFA's and some vitamins. Slippery Elm powder tea seems to have speeded up a healing process since I added that around a month ago!.....I know this poll has nothing to do with scalp P but I have to add that the ACV that Marie told about in her thread has been working like nothing else ever has......today I will do a 4th treatment .....because it has been so encouraging to see the excellant results from just a good old natural remedy........!
Everything has been going so good I'm afraid to change anything I'm doing...the P has faded to a light pink....everywhere! including the inverse which has been one tough cookie to treat!

Whatever my mom cooks is what I eat! As long as I don't eat snacks too often, I'm ok!

High fiber, low gluten, lots of carbs, lots of protein. It's the "you'd better be exercising and near a bathroom" diet. :)
