Shaving
I recently got psoriasis on my legs, and a few days ago I shaved my legs. Well the result of that was blood and a lot of it. Do any of you have this problem, and is there anything you recommend? Hair removal mouses or creams like veet?

Hi MissBrightside,
Welcome to the boards!! So far the only places on my legs are two stripes up my shins. Shaving there is very tricky. This is what I have tried. Before I shower I moisturize, then I use hair conditioner or detangler as shaving cream. It is slicker than regular shaving cream or soap and not drying. I also don't press hard. You won't get as close a shave but no blood. The depilatories are really irritating too, but if your'e going to use one the spray Veet seems to burn less.

Hey!!
You could try something like Veet or Nair, although those sorts of things have been known to hurt your legs even more, but you could still try it... OTHERWISE-- i would recommend using an electric razor instead... thats what i use when my p gets bad on my legs
good luck

I hate to shave myself, but my hair grows like crazy and I have to some time or another. Last night after soaking for a while, I got the razor. Uh ohhhhh.....I proceded to shave...OUCH...I didn't know I had so many that bleed. I just shaved a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't that bad. I went through 17 band aids within 15 minutes and they were all soaked. So I had to take them off and reaply 17 more band aids. It sucked. They bleed so BAD and I was sitting in the tub crying not because hurt(a little), but because us girls can't even shave. I always hated shaving before, but would give anything to do it now. I understand what you all are going through. Love you all...take care...and Happy Shaving...what else can we do, but laugh....

I have really bad psoriasis on my legs, I have since 2nd grade. What works best is shaving as least often as possible - especially during the winter months when you're wearing pants all the time. Also, if you're planning on using a razor, be very delicate over the plaques. It would probably be best to lightly graze over the affected skin, as opposed to pressing like upon normal skin. Also, using senstive shaving cream and lotions afterward usually helps. I personally find Aveeno the best - I haven't drawn blood since using it.

At the moment, I don't have much for psoriasis on my legs, but I used to. Funny, I don't think I ever really had a problem bleeding a lot. I use a Venus razor, and I love it! I found I got a lot less cuts because of the razor's flexible head. But I would think moisturizing before shaving might help.
Good luck to you! :)
