Simple inexpensive remedy for scalp psoriasis by individual hoping to help others.
Hi. I am new here because I was looking for comments on a particular medicine prescribed for my son. He has cerebral palsy and has had severe scalp psoriasis for years. We have tried soooo many things . Some worked a short time but then eventually quit working. I have been on a mission to find "something " no matter what the cost. I have been to many websites looking for possible answers and suggestions. I kept reading about Apple Cider Vinegar and finally decided to try it. What could it hurt? At about the same time we went for Dr. appointment and told the Dr. we were desperate . He prescribed and we got Taclonex ointment (which is very, very expensive-over $400 for 1 tube!). As it turned out that was about 1 month ago and I am pleased to say that I have never used it! I applied the Apple Cider Vinegar daily (at nightime- because of the strong smell). Within 3 days his scalp had completely cleared up! The only downside is that it does not smell so great. I had read several different versions on what strength to use. Since many people had said they used it full strength- that is what I did. AMAZING results! I had also read that Aloe Vera was good for psoriasis - so I decided to use liquid diluted Aloe Vera (sold in gallon plastic jug) to dilute the Apple Cider Vinegar. I mixed about 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar to 2 parts Aloe Vera juice and placed in a spray bottle. I canot believe what a mirracle has happened. The A.C. Vinegar did the job alone but I decided to dilute with another "possible" remedy (the Aloe Vera) instead of water. I bought the Apple Cider Vinegar in the grocery store. Nothing fancy or expensive! But I will tell you it works! I have been using it daily but I think I may try to experiment to see if we get same results by possibly reducing applications to fewer times per week. I am not sure if Apple Cider Vinegar sold at health food stores may have less vinegar smell. But we just make sure we shampoo his hair several times to help with the smell. I have read that the vinegar is actually good for your skin and that it makes your hair soft (true). It is a natural product with no side effects. And cost pennies to use!!! I hope that this will help some of you. I am not sure if it will work for everyone but I do know it has worked for us. I wish I had only known about it for the past 8 miserable years for my son. Why not try something inexpensive, natural, and maybe already in your pantry. You have nothing to lose - except psoriasis! I hope it will work for you. Good Luck!

peace! thank you! and welcome! :p
ACV is one of those things many of us have tried....but....it's good to hear how you did it and got such good results...... I think persistance won in your case....so many of us try something and if we don't keep it up it comes back and then we get discouraged....
here is an old thread (notice the date on Marie's post) that someone revived recently.....
When i was a kid my mother used ACV on all of us as a rinse....gets the soap out, makes the hair shine, and probably most of all gets the scalp PH back in balance.....

Hi and thanks to each of you for the warm welcome. I know most have probably heard of the acv approach and that it may be old news to many. However I know that there may be others who are not aware or not heard firsthand from someone that it did actually work for. (I wish that someone had told us much sooner). I know it will need to be continued and is not a permanent cure- but that's the same story with all the expensive rx's and over the counter products. We have tried more of them than I can even remember names of. And this does really work (at least for us) better than ANYTHING we have ever used. I was almost in disbelief that it did actually work so well. And it is so nice to know how very inexpensive it is, especially since many people do not have insurance to help or cannot afford the other costly so called remedies /treatments. The way I look at it is- why put chemicals onto/into your bodies that have so many possible bad effects ,when acv does the job and is safe, simple and inexpensive. I do however wonder if it only works in certain instances. I know that it works for us without a doubt. I would certainly appreciate any comments from others who it has worked for also. And if there is anyone that has any question that I could possibly help with -I will be glad to try and help. Best wishes to all.

Thank you for sharing your success story. It is always nice to hear when something works, better yet when it's something relatively simple and inexpensive! I was reminded by another responder that my mom use to rinse our hair with vinegar man years ago when we were kids!
