Food Intolerance Testing
Hi there
I posted a while back saying that I was going to get a food intolerence test done, I seem to have lost my post!
Anyway I finally had the results today and to be honest it seems like I am intolerant to almost *everything*!
Here are the foods I was tested for
http://www.homeinonhealth.com/113_42_foods.php
The only foods I am *not* intolerant to are:
Barley, Buckwheat, Duck, Crusacean Mix, Mollusc Mix, Asparagus, Celery, Apple, Apricot, Banana, Blackcurrent, Rasberry, Mint, Notmeg, Peppercorn, Parsley, Carob, Cocoa Bean, Coffee
I cant possibly just eat the above foods! I have an appointment with thier nutritionist next week to discuss the result so we'll see!
That said, the intoterant foods are graded 1-4 with 4 being the highest. I only have corn, millet, gluten, wheat, cows milk, egg, beef, pinnaple, orange, lime. cashew, brazil nut, hazelnut with the top 4 score so maybe it is just a case of cutting those out?
Has anyone else had a test like this and it come back showing such 'busy' results!?

I received my results back just over two weeks ago. (May 29th) Out of the 115 foods they tested I came back with 12 positive. Alfalfa, Chili Pepper, Clams, Cranberry, Oysters, B/W Pepper, Radishes, Scallops, Sugar Cane, Wheat, Brewers Yeast and Bakers Yeast.

I have had P for over 20 years and PA for the last 2. I was on Humira for 18 months and then started having some pretty severe neurological side effects and was taken off of it. I quickly went down hill (P came back real bad and same with PA) and decided to be proactive in finding another way to treat this darn disease!
I implemented removing all of these foods immediately and I have seen some really amazing results. After 15 days my thick and scaley plaques are now level with my skin and the redness is mostly gone. The PA sapped all of my energy out and now I am feeling so much more energenic! (No more afternoon naps to make it through the day) I also started this about 25 lbs overweight and have lost 9.5 lbs already!
Part of this plan entails a "food rotation" where you do not eat the same foods or food families in the same four day period. For example cows milk today, rice milk next day, soy milk the next, goats milk on the fourth day. Another example would be chicken today, fish tomorrow, pork then beef. Trust me, that is the hardest part and I have not complied 100% on that part. (Probably 85%) This is for the detox part. You then re-introduce these foods 1 at a time 12 weeks later, looking for negative reactions to your body. It is tough, but I am so stoked with the results so far that it is becoming easier by the hour!
For me, finding things without sugar is the toughest. Sugar is put into EVERYTHING these days! But, if you have patients while you are shopping you can find the items. I have also found rice flour pasta, corn flour pasta etc etc.
For me, this has proven to be very successful so far. I look forward to see how this continues to work. I have always thought that this disease had SOME relation with what I put into my body and for me my body was reacting negatively to it. Yes, I still have aches, I still have P but next to Humira, this has been my most successful battle yet!

That is great that you are finding ways to manage your P and PA!
This may be a silly question, but where did you get these tests done? Meaning, what doc would I ask about it if I were intersted?

Answers:
There is a link on the Better Health USA website that basically allows you to send an email to them. They got back to me within a couple of days with a list of nearby Doctors. Took a total of three weeks from the time I sent them an email to the time I got the results back.

Hey all...we have a new CAM forum where you can post now! I'm sure this will be moved when west coast wakes up!
as for the allergy testing....I knew it had something to do with my P problems too but didn't know how to go about it (I didn't want the scratch tests....both my kids had those done when they were small) then my doc told me about the blood allergy test....I said yes!
I was told to go off the foods for several months and then slowly add each food and then rotate every 4 days as tpd did!!! (I also had 12 triggers) that was when I cleared up....it took from 4 months to completely clear.....but waking up each morning was something to look forward to as I would see such progress!
Maybe everyone does not have trigger foods that bring on P but I would really look into it if..........there are known allergies in the family or if you have ever had a problem.....so sneezing, itchy eyes, miserable headaches from hayfever, coughing, wheezing from asthma, hives from contact, can all bring on an allergic reaction ....why not foods bring on skin problems? makes sense to me!
there are different triggers that can cause the skin to react...if we have the gene....then the possibility is ever there to have the reaction!
the precipitating factors that bring on the reactions are injury, infection, trauma to the skin, allergy....here is a quote from dermatologist Dr. Heng:
It is a genetic skin condition due to a defective gene on the 17th chromosome. Although this disease is present at birth, psoriasis usually develops only after some form of injury to the skin (trauma, infection, allergic reaction). Non-skin infections (e.g. urinary tract infections) may also precipitate psoriasis.
also yeast can invade the broken down inverse P causing additional healing problems...it's like a double battle...get rid of one you still have the other...probably why scalp P is so hard to get rid of! If someone gets rid of psoriasis through any means...but still has scalp issues...then it might be time to think funus/yeast! and treat that accordingly! (sugar feeds the yeast so that could be a reason for the lingering yeast situation)

wow tpd70 that is great that you saw a positive effect. I am definately going to try eliminating my biggest culprits. I have so many though it will be tough! I think the fact that corn, millet, gluten, wheat, oat rice and rye all show up for me is going to be tough! Even potato shows up. Not many carbs left for me! Only Barley and Buckwheat I am ok with!

cmorron ....you also can get on the phone and call M.D.s and interview the staff on whether the doctor gives the
COMPREHENSIVE FOOD PANEL lgG ELISA
That's what my sheet from them says...I call it the blood allergy test!

Hi,
I am new to the board and new to well, everything. But I gave up milk for rice milk and my skin stopped cracking - even in winter. If you are a hard core milk drinker (I was) I stepped down by going to organic milk and saw lots of improvement. The rice milk doesn't seem to have the same aftertaste as soy and goes better in foods, like cream soups with less notice.
Hope this helps

Hi Jenn....I use rice milk also...
Dr Heng ( http://psoriainfo.org/site/ ) said NO DAIRY and I believe that is recommended for all P people....it seems to have a negative effect on our system (maybe because we aren't baby calves? :p )
I have some hardcore milk drinkers in my family so I also get the organic milk!
I would like to try almond milk ....but the brands I could find had sugar in it...so I guess I'll have to make my own.....
