I used "SKIN CAP" a few years ago and it completely cured my Psoriasis!
Yes a few years ago, i purchased though radio advertising a product called "Skin Cap". It was a clear topical spray non staining and very easy to use. I used it once in the morning and once in the evening and within two weeks my Psoriasis was completely gone! However, soon after my original purchases, the maker contacted me and stated that the FDA had banned their product and they had to change the formula. The new product did not work the same at all so i quit ordering it. Why would the FDA ban a product that worked so great? Now my psoriasis is getting worse and worse and i have not found another product out there like the original "SKIN CAP". It was so nice to be completely free of psoriasis so easily! If anyone remembers this product and had the same experience please let me know. Thanks. This is my first posting.

Welcome!!
Skin Cap had to change their formula because it contained prescription-levels of Clobetasol (a class 1 steroid).

That's probably why it worked so well before the formula change...

You can ask your dermatologist for Clobex which is the brand name for Clobetasol. Unfortunately if you've already used it once (in Skin Cap), it probably won't work as well again. That is typical of topical steroids. They tend to work well the first time, but then your skin gets used to them and their effects gradually decrease.
You must be very careful when discontinuing their use. Be sure to discontinue them gradually by tapering off the frequency of use over a period of a few weeks. Only use them under your doctor's direction.

Bssically, they were selling a prescription steroid with a prescription! And I believe they did not reveal it as one of the ingredients.

I used it also and it was fabulous- easy to apply no mess and it cleared up my skin in days. When the FDA recalled it I was heart broken. My skin then flared up so bad- the worst ever! I even tried to find it in Canada.
The side effects -thinning skin etc. I guess it was risky.
I didnt try the second phase because i was afraid of another flare up.
Best of luck

Hi,
Skin Cap did not "cure" your psoriasis, it simply suppressed it. As soon as you stopped using Skin Cap the psoriasis would have returned and the flare would probably have been twice as bad.
The kind of steroid hidden in products like Skin Cap should only be used for a period of 4 weeks followed by a weaning off period. Once your psoriasis is back under control you come off the steroids and revert back to your safer, regular treatment.
Cheers,
Paul

I think we call it dermazinc in Canada even though the Maker of the product is from the U.S(Maine I think)...and it has clobetasol powder added by the pharmacist .05% I think I remember. It was cheap and very effective. Great for scalp. still available I 'm sure-I can get more details should anyone wish...petey

Skin cap cleared me completely (the only time ever) about 10 years ago. I tried it since it was banned and it didn't work at all. There was a lot of controversy over it. I actually bought it at the pharmacy at our clinic.
