My name is Pat ( A.K.A frostedflakes ) i would like to introduce myself , i have had Psoriasis for around 20 years and i have at least 6 different types of this dreadful painful disease i am from Arizona and there is no support groups to be found within 100 miles from me . and all these years i thought i was alone with this disease my family did not want a thing to do with me ( still dont ) and my own home town basicaly kicked me out of town due to Psoriasis they did not know what it was and thought it was contagious .
i told them that it is not contagious but they did not believe me and ever sense then i felt very alone till i met a wonderful person here in the community and by reading all of ur posts i now know for the first time in my life that yes i am not alone ! and together we can fight this beast we know as Psoriasis together ! thank u all for allowing me to share , and thank you all for leting me that i am not alone in this fight to find a cure for this painful deadly disease .
LET OUR MISSION BE , FIGHT THIS BEAST AND FIND A CURE TO THIS BEAST FOR OUR FUTUER GENERATION'S DEPENDS ON OUR SUPPORT !

Welcome to the Board! :cool: Nice to meet you. I'm sorry to hear that you're going though such a rough time. You're no longer alone! You're now part of this wonderful community. You'll be able to vent, ask questions, exchange info and maybe even share a laugh or two with people who truly understand.
I have some very good friends who live in Arizona. One of them, Mitch (a.k.a. Rosy3939), lives in Chandler and is talking about starting a support group. I'm going to let him know about you. May the Arizona contingent can get together.

Welcome to the board, Pat! I'm also in Arizona. I have wished there was a support group around as well. One might come along in the near future! My son is most effected by p. He's 8. I have been diagnosed with it also, but I have not had many problems with it.
It's terrible the treatment you've had! I hope you find a greater sense of community here, so you feel less alone.

Dr. Weil is in Phoenix. I wonder if he treats patients still, and if he has a specific therapy for psoriasis.

Dr. Weil is actually in Tucson, if I am thinking of the same Dr. Weil, Dr. Andrew Weil, well known alternative doctor, founded the integrative medicine program at the U of A.....

Don't worry about starting a support group.
I know Mitch has been toying with the idea for quite a while and with gentle PUSHING, SHOVING and HOLLERING lol he will probably be on board soon. :p

Starting and maintaining a support group can be a bit of work and commitment so I do understand why you wouldn't want to take it on yourself! I wouldn't do it if I didn't have my trusty partner Victoria by my side and our wonderful groups involvement.... :)
Hope that you can find a dermatologist with vast knowledge of psoriasis & valid treatment options so that you can help yourself.

My daughter saw Dr. Heng 2 weeks ago...we have seen amazing results! check out her website: www.psoriainfo.org.
Before this I tried to get my duaghter to dr. weil's school of intregative medicine...they were not seeing any peds at that time...so no luck. but thankfully Dr. Heng is helping us from CA. Now that my daughter is a patient she will treat her from here...The psoriais is 75% gone in 2 weeks!!! no new spots!!! Incredible!!

I am sorry for the hard time you have had in dealing with your psoriasis it can be quite unnerving especially without a lot of support and enchouragement. You have come to a great spot where we are all in the same boat together.
Welcome to boards and to our P family. As other have mentioned I have been thinking about starting a support group here in the Phoenix area and I have finally come to the conclusion that one is despartely needed here. I am a transported New Jerseyian who real don't know to many folks in Arizona and I think that a group would be just what the doctor ordered for myself and otheres who suffer from these dreaded diseases of P & PA.
So one monday I will contact the NPF and start the wheels in motion to start a support group in the Phoenix area. I live in Chandler but and of the surrounding areas are fine with me and I am open to suggestions and help.
I hope you can find some help in dealing with your disease. If I can be of any help please PM, E-mail or call, I am always available. Good luck and welcome to the P family!
