what food should i avoid? or is there any kind of diet?
hi,
i am new to this site. i am a 27yr mother of 3. i was diagnose with psoriasis about 3 months ago, but im sure it started about 6 mths ago before i was actually diagnosed. I now have it all over my scalp, alot of red spots on both my legs and they are spreading to other parts of my body. i have notice that when i changed my diet to a healthier one, i itch alot less. Today i eat scotch finger biscuit and is now itching heaps!!! i am also lossing my hair because i keep on picking at the flakes. Mine are stuck to my scalp skin, i actually have to dig at it to pull it out of my hair. Does anyone else have the same condition? i also want to ask about diet. What should i avoid? which food causes flare ups? and is there any website about p and diet that i could read from? My Dr. has given me medication called Elocon cream .and Eloncon lotion. so far it hasnt help. I think its because of my bad eating habits that maded me get p. i have a addictive behaviour. i go through stages of liking a certain food and eating it 24/7 non stop. i also hate water, i never drink it, i perfer to drink juices. I heard that drinking heaps of water, bathing in sea salt and getting alot of sun will help clear up p, is this true? has anyone clear up using those method before? if anyone has any good treatments / medication please do let me know!!!
cheers, Tien

Hi Tien.....I just got through telling RJ about what I did for the scalp P I had
so I don't have to repeat here is a link to his problem with scalp P
as for what foods to eat?..... that depends on what trigger foods you might have, if any, sugar is a biggie, dairy for some people, soy, beef has arachidonic acid that has been shown to not be good for P people (lots of saturated fats...grass fed is better)
here is another link that shows what anti-inflammatory foods and supplements are good for people with inflammatory diseases....psoriasis is one of them!

Miss Asia,
Scalp P is one of the most common places that this condition starts. There are so many people here who are dealing with it.
I just answered Reggae Johny...as did Sally (GitOverIt). Read the replies in Reggae Johny's thread, and use the Search function here. Most days it even works! There are years of archives here.
Since you are in Asia(?) It might be hard to find the Suave Naturals Conditioner. It is quite cheap over here. I would look for 'medium' quality hair conditioner and try it. Suave Naturals conditioner really doesn't have many natural ingredients.
The best thing I have used for my scalp besides the Suave conditioner is 777 oil. You can search for more info at this forum.
Do you have any infections that you are aware of?
Your 'binge eating' or 'cravings' are probably your downfall. In my case, I had candida, which is a fungal infestation in the digestive tract. It is a systematic yeast infection. Sugars, wheat, diary products, alcohol - all feed this condition.
In fact, when we don't feed it, candida causes the cravings. It takes about a week (or more) of concerted efforts to make the cravings stop.
You can choose to medicate it to death which is quite expensive...or you can cut out the things that feed it.
And water is one of the best things you can do for yourself. You can shorten your life if you are constantly dehydrated. I call water "champagne". For the sake of your kids and your family, you should learn to love it.

Hi tien...we have several posters from Sidney....you all should get a group meeting going :D I think one of them ordered the 777 oil and Psorolin from Garry....he gives free shipping in the states...not sure about AU.
Sunlight is good for P....but I have read skin cancer is very prevalent in AU,
if you don't get out in the sun (only 15 minutes a day) you might want to consider Vitamin D3, called the sunshine vitamin..... I got the no soy, no vitamin A, in the capsules....it has 1000mgs in each cap. and I take 3 plus what I get in the CLO...... ;)
I take cod liver oil (lemon flavored) by Carlson brand (no mercury)
here is some info on why it is good for you, me and everyone :p
and here is an article on how much we need and why!
here is an article about how Vit. D3 heals the skin...
good luck and keep us posted...you know where we are if you have questions :p

Sally,
Can you post the link for where you get your Vitamin D and exactly what kind it is? Also, do you stop taking in the summer? I also want to tell you once again how much I appreciate all the research you have done.
Thanks,
Janet

Please note that not everyone thinks it is a good idea to take more than 1000-2000 IU of D3 daily, including what you get from your diet. Seems sunlight and eating fatty fish like salmon and sardines are a good way to get Vit D3. Some researcher are of the opinion that 4000 is safe, others disagree. There is such a thing as Vitamin D toxicity. And if you have underlying kidney disease, you should not take so much. Just FYI.
