Aloe Vera
Hello everybody I was reading on the web that aloe vera works wonders for P. I was wondering if anybody had tried this and what products works best. I also need any input on any over the counter product for p and scalp p. I just recently had a flare up and have no insurance to see a derm. Thanks!

I think aloe is very helpful and I use it in different ways...including drinking aloe juice. It is antiseptic, soothing and healing.
But by itself...I doubt it will be a miracle cure for flaring P.
There is a good aloe gel product by Nature's Way. I use it by itself, and I mix other dried herbs and oils into it for external applications.
The problem with aloe, is that the inner leaf is what is most helpful to the skin and our stomach lining...but it is very hard and expensive to stabilize that to make it easy to market.
There are some freeze dried products that are very healing for internal uses. It also has high nutritional content.

Aloe has helped some, but like Dulane said...it isn't the miracle cure.
I use Eucerin Aquaphor after I get out of the shower. It helps soften the scales...and they fall off themselves. Just my 2 cents.
Good Luck!

I have a friend that swears that she got rid of her psoriasis by putting the inner gel from the plant on her patches....can't prove it by me...I don't SEE her that often....just by phone! but she is a nurse and had some doctors verify that it was psoriasis!
So I bought this nice aloe plant....
in the summer I put it out so it gets some sun and shade and it grew and grew and grew! it also sprouted babies galore. I was told to water it twice a year....winter and summer is what I picked....(in the summer I did water directly but it was next to plants that got watered daily and so got misted which didn't seem to hurt it)
I got tired of cutting, trimming, and scrapping to get the gel so can't say if it would help....I'm thinking her's were probably a few patches.....you can cut the leaf off and wrap in a paper towel and refridgerate to keep it fresh.
I use aloe in lots of my lotions and creams that I throw together!
I also buy the "aloe drink" at the health store to add to my morning (or afternoon) smoothie!

I have got an A.V. plant at home. It has been good for sunburn but not yet tried it on P.
I suggest you do more research into it, as there are several species in the AV family (but they all look the same), some more suitable than others for the healing gel - and you want to make sure you buy the right one.
Most of the drinks and gels currently for sale in the shops and on the internet are absolute rubbish, not worth wasting your money on.
I got a good brand from my naturopath but it is very concentrated, so not to be treated lightly. I got given it to treat my Ulcerative Colitis, not P.
My skincare lady has told me that A.V. is fantastic for P, but I have no personal experience of it.

Further to my above post, the following website says......."Even though there are over 240 species of Aloe there is only four recognized as having nutritional value".
This link has some imformative info on the plant and its uses:
