Having psoriasis it too hard to deal wit
Hi am beth am 18 years old.I have psoriasis for 2 years and 5 months and its just keeping getting worse.I had it when i was 16.In high school was bad people would look at me weird and call me names.Taking the trains everyday was even bad some people would move away from me when i caome in the train and others would look at me like i had nasty on me.They look at me like they hate me.I had a hard time a in GYM.I had to wear long pants and long sleeves which i still do wear.I couldn't play any more the vollyball team.Everyday my life was going away it was not normal anymore. It's just went away so fast and there was nothing i can do about it.What i dislike the most about having this is that when i travel to school sometimes other high school kids would talk about me with their friends and loud too and i would be standing or sitting right there. i feel so bad and sometimes i would get out and wait of an empty bus or train.I was depress so bad i wouldn't eat just stay home and alot of times cry.Infact i still feel depress sometimes.I would hangout with my friends twice in a month.Walking is hard my joints hurts alot.I was so upset when i found out i have psoriasis becuse when i was 10 years i would get pick on by other kids and then it stop when i was 13.I was failing high school and wouldn't leave in time with my friends if i didn't attend summer school and i did and it was horrible i was so sick of just being me.I had to wear long clothes and sometimes i wear black to hide myself.I am kind of happy now that i finish high school and am going to college but in january.i took time off i need time off to think about me and my life and how am going to reach my goals in life.I think am ok now but my skin is getting worse and am try hard to deal with it and what makes me more happy it that i have time off college so i stay inside the house and don't have to go outside for others to see me.

Hi Kokoraumi,
Welcome to the boards. This is a great place to share your feelings, vent, and learn about ways to try to manage your disease. I remember very well how hard it was when I was in high school and had bad psoriasis. I think it was the hardest time.
There are some things you can try to help yourself feel better. If you don't have a dr , you can look here for a dermatologist near you. Please go and see one, they can and will help you. If you don't have insurance, there are assistance programs available to help.

You can look to see if there is a Support Group near you. Support Groups are lead by trained people who are patients, and meet regularly in many cities. Here is a place you can check to find the one closest to you:

If you are feeling depressed, you should try talking to your dr. There are many medications that can help you feel better, and counseling is also an excellent idea. Many of us have gone to counseling at different times to help cope with the difficulties of living with this disease.
Please let us know how we can help.
Regards,
